There's a lot of stuff on the curb on the drive to work, but I think this is the first time I've seen a piano out for garbage collection.

So I'm at a party and run into a guy from my hometown. We're sort of acquainted but don't know each other all that well.

He's drinking Johnny Walker straight out of the bottle, and makes a big deal of offering some to me in front of everyone. He's probably thinking about what a huge nerd I was in high school, or has noticed that I'm not drinking much at the party.

Print Story askHusi for recipes, revisited

To make a long boring story short and boring, I've got family coming over for Easter dinner and I've got to cook a ham.

I've never cooked a whole ham before, I just buy the wimpy pre-sliced chunks.

Suggestions solicited, as long as they don't involve pineapple.

Exciting poll inside.

Can anyone recommend an Indian food cookbook?

I'm looking for week night supper recipes, food that doesn't require elaborate prep or hard-to-find ingredients.

Veggie recipes are fine, I even have a special name for them - "side dishes".

The voting has slowed to a trickle, and no-one is going to catch up to kung Pao sauce.

Congratulations ana!

Many thanks to all who submitted pictures, there were some great shots.

The entries are in, it's time to vote.

The poll is multi-select, vote for each entry that you like.

I'll declare a winner in a week or so, once voting drops off.

Enough blather, on to the photos!

I'm glad I extended the PFC deadline, there's been a flood of really nice entries.

There's still lots of time for the rest of us, the deadline is Jan 10.

Today's geometric inspiration has been brought to you by http://ffffound.com/ which I've been following since someone mentioned it here.

geometry and fear of heights
as seen thru the wine glass
fractals
triangles
there's all cool, but #10 is the most geometrical

Since there have been exactly zero submissions for Photo Fun Challenge 5, I'm extending the deadline until Jan 10.

I was probably crazy to think anyone would get around to a PFC this time of year. So y'all enjoy your holidays, and keep an eye out for that perfect shot.

Ob. geometric inspiration

I diligently researched NSFW photographs, but was unable to find another inspirational geometry-themed nekkid chick.

Instead, feast your eyes on crop circles! (including fractals!)

The fractal crop circles aroused me almost as much as last week's geometry poster girl, does that make me jaded or a hopeless nerd? Vote in the poll.

Print Story ask Husi - venison recipes?
Food
By clover kicker (Sun Oct 28, 2007 at 08:45:08 PM EST) (all tags)
A buddy got his deer this weekend and I've been promised some meat (his wife won't touch the stuff).

Google has a lot of stew and roast recipes, which my wife won't touch, because it tastes like game meat.

I'm wondering if anyone has cooked game in a non-hillbilly style of cuisine, like substituting venison for lamb in a rogan josh.
