Skinny Dip - Carl Hiaasen

I love this guy, all his books are brill, funny crime capers!

Carl Hiaasen is a comedy crime genius with a conscience.

I have adored his books ever since I read 'Native Tongue' years ago. They are so funny, with amazing characters, sharp satire and excellent plots, often culmulating in fantastical set pieces. And there is nearly always some environmental message that is wise and sensible, never over the top.

'Skinny Dip' sees the welcome return of unlucky in love Mick Stranahan, from 'Skin Tight'. The main character however, is the vengeful Joey. Shes been tossed off a cruise ship by her scumball husband, yet she is saved by a handy floating bale of hash! He wants her out of the picture as she might know too much about his dodgy science goings on.( He really, really doesnt like the everglades!) She lets her evil hubby think she is dead, so she haunts him, heheheh, with help from Mick and his dog. Big time criminals get involved and theres a lot of corrupt politics, plus some green pubic hair and one very big hairy goon! As usual, the bad guys meet varied and innovative demises....

Overall another excellent novel! Read all his others too!

Enjoyable and daft

I had this book recommended to me, I hadn't read any Carl Hiassen before though I was aware of him and knew he is popular. I really enjoyed it, it is simple to read, flows along well, keeps you interested all the way through, is very funny, the characters are likeable or hateable depending on who we are talking about! Very good novel, well written, he has a winning formula. I would like to go on and read more by him now.

Typical Hiaasen

As usual, a ludicrous plot peopled with unbelievable characters doing ridiculous things - and, also as usual, none of that matters. Hiassen's writing is excellent, and he just sweeps the reader along with him from one unlikely event to the next. If you want to read a book to lift your spirits, pick up this one, or any of his other novels. Excellent.

Skinny Dip

I thought this book was brilliant, very funny, a bit dark in places and have recommended it to masses of people.

leaves you hungry for more!

this was the first ever Carl Hiaasen book that i read. i bought it from my book club purely because the synopsis sounded fun!

now there is no turning back - i have bought and read all of his books and eagerly await the publication of anymore!
