..but the current one takes the biscuit.

..why can't anyone on here  just go out to a fetish club like normal people??

Where would you really go on a first date, seriously? No poll, Write in only.

I haven't been on a first date by blixco (4.00 / 1) #1 Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 11:14:05 AM EST
in something like twenty years, so the roller rink or hanging out at the gas n' sip getting stoned or sitting it out at a coffee shop are probably all bad ideas.

I presume "Judas Priest concert" is no longer a valid first date choice.

True fact by ObviousTroll (4.00 / 2) #9 Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 03:02:43 PM EST
The way I introduced myself to SWHTL for the first time would, today, get me arrested, committed and sedated.

And it wasn't the worst thing I ever did to meet a woman, either.

Will we see this pop up as a future diary topic? If it was that bad, whatever possessed her to marry you?

Well, she says that the reason she went out with by ObviousTroll (2.00 / 0) #12 Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 07:32:38 PM EST
me was she noticed that pan handlers, weirdos, frat boys and Jehovah's Witnesses all tended to avoid her whenever I was around.

I pre-dig the grave well in advance, far enough away that nobody can hear the screaming.

Okay, that was tasteless, and rather Green River-ish. Ugh. I almost feel dirty just writing that. Now I'm probably going to get an lm-style knock at the door, and notation on a police record somewhere.

I've never been on a date where I hadn't already known the person for a year or longer. The point where relationships cross from friendship to something more doesn't usually involve  a "date", for me, it happened over the course of days or weeks, at whatever place(s) we were hanging around together at the time.

I never had a successful date. I had a few disasters. Usually I ended up with women I'd never actually dated.

Dating is for the weak by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 1) #5 Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 12:31:32 PM EST

and the delusionally hopeful. I'd sooner eat a .45 slug than ever go on another date, as the very notion of listening to someone talk about their boring life, or, worse yet, having to answer questions about my own boring life, sounds more futile and pained than waterboarding.

Lingerie shopping with SLD was got to be the best first date ever. It even worked out cheaper than going to a posh meal in a restaurant and was much more, ahem, interesting.

a) on where you went for the lingerie
b) who paid for it

a) John Lewis so not so expensive
b) Who do you think paid for it?

I honestly think it was the best purchase of my life especially as she road tested them back at mine. Happy days :)

My most recent first date... by greyshade (4.00 / 1) #18 Tue Sep 09, 2008 at 03:13:19 PM EST
A nice Italian joint for dinner, then some drinks and dancing to live music.  However she was a special case.  Normally its not quite as posh a restaurant, or skip dinner altogether and meet somewhere for some drinks and dancing.

Rarely, a picnic at the park. Never a movie as a first date.

Ah, first dates.... by Tonatiuh (2.00 / 0) #19 Wed Sep 10, 2008 at 05:01:39 AM EST
I used to take my first dates to Palacio de Bellas Artes .

Cultural, romantic, historic and chic plus plenty of good restaurants around and a big tree lined park across the street.

In the UK I suppose a good museum exhibition followed by dinner would do fine.
